Day 1 – Giza Pyramids and the Great Step Pyramid Tour

Your 2-day trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port begins when your tour guide meets you your cruise exit at the time that will have been confirmed with you. You will then be driven to Cairo in your air conditioned vehicle with free bottled water provided on board the vehicle. When you arrive in Cairo, your first stop will be at the ancient Giza necropolis to see the famous Giza Pyramids and the iconic Sphinx. You will also have access to the Valley Temple while you are at the site. Of course, your private tour guide will be with you to tell you all about the ancient history of these breathtaking ancient monuments.

After visiting the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, Mykerinus and the Sphinx, you will then be taken to a good quality local restaurant for some lunch. This is a great opportunity for you to sample some delicious Egyptian food.

After you have enjoyed your lunch meal, you will drive to an ancient necropolis at Saqqara to see the great step pyramid of Pharaoh Djozer. This was the first pyramid ever built by the ancient Egyptians and dates back to around 2630 BC. It was also the first major stone structure ever built by man. Today it is one of Egypt’s most cherished historical sites, and your private tour guide will be with you to tell you all about the pyramid’s ancient history. Visitors can also enter the pyramid without having to purchase an additional entrance ticket.

Once you have finished exploring this fascinating site, you will then head back to your air conditioned modern vehicle for the short drive back to Cairo. On arrival in Cairo, You will make your way directly to the five-star hotel where you will be staying for the night. You will be assisted with check in, and then you will be free to enjoy it the reminder of the day as you wish.

Optional activities not included in our 2-day to Cairo from Alexandria Port:

Entering the Pyramids of Giza:  Our onshore excursions to the pyramids do not include entry to the pyramids. Visitors who wish to enter one or more of the pyramids will need to obtain a separate ticket for each pyramid they want to enter.

Camel Ride at the pyramids at the Giza Pyramids: Camel rides are available at the site, but this is an optional activity and is not included in the price of our 2-day trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port.

Day 2 – Salah el Din Citadel, Egyptian Museum, and Khan el Khalili

Enjoy a good breakfast at your hotel, and then your tour guide and driver will arrive. At this point you will check out from the hotel and then you will make your way to the Salah el Din Citadel where you will visit the famous Mohamed Ali Alabaster Mosque. The Mohamed Ali Mosque was built for Mohamed Ali who ruled Egypt for 45 years. Visitors, including non-Muslims, are welcome to enter this beautiful mosque, so you will have the opportunity to explore the interior. Just be aware that females are required to cover their hair, neck and shoulders when entering a mosque.

After your visit to the Citadel, you will then be taken to a good local restaurant for your lunch, another great opportunity for you to enjoy some authentic Egyptian food. Your lunch meal is included in the price of our 2 day trip to Cairo from Alexandria Airport.

After you have finished enjoying your lunch, You will then make your way to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, also known as the Egyptian Museum. This incredible museum is home to tens of thousands of ancient artifacts that showcase 5,000 years of Egyptian history. These are all genuine artifacts that never fail to impress anyone who visits the museum.

Once you are finished at the museum, get back inside your private air conditioned vehicle, and then you will drive to Islamic Cairo to visit the city’s famous Khan el Khalili Bazaar with its many meandering lanes and alleys. This is a great opportunity to do some last minute shopping for souvenirs. Even if you don’t want to do any shopping, you can sit at one of the cafes and enjoy some refreshments while you watch ordinary Egyptians going about their daily lives. This bazaar is one of the Cairo’s most popular tourist attractions, and you will see why from the minute you arrive at this bustling and vibrant marketplace.

After spending some time at the bazaar, you will then be driven back to Alexandria Port. Your 2 day trip to Cairo from Alexandria Port has now come to an end, and you will be returning to your cruise ship with memories that you will cherish forever.
