Giza Pyramids Tour
On the day of your Cairo tour from Sokhna Port, your guide and driver will meet you at Port Sokhna and then you will drive to Cairo, Egyptโs bustling capital city. On arrival in Cairo your first stop will be at the legendary Pyramids of Giza, one of the worldโs most famous tourist attractions. During your Giza Pyramids tour, you will visit all three of the massive pyramids, the iconic Sphinx, and the Valley Temple.
The pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu, which is the largest of the three pyramids, is also known as the Great Giza Pyramid. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one that is still standing and largely still intact. The second largest pyramid belonged to Pharaoh Khafre, while the smallest of the three main pyramids belonged to Pharaoh Menkaure.
The Great Sphinx of Giza, which you will also be visiting during your pyramids tour, is believed to have been created for Pharaoh Khafre. However, many scholars believe that this giant limestone statue was constructed by his older brother to commemorate their father, Pharaoh Khufu.
Visitors to the site are also able to enter these ancient wonders but ecause a lot of people have no desire to enter the pyramids, we do not include admission fees in the price of our Cairo tour from Sokhna Port. Separate tickets must be purchased for each pyramid you wish to enter. You can either purchase these tickets in person at the site, or we can amend your tour itinerary to include entry to one or all of the three pyramids.
While you are at the site, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a camel ride for an even more amazing and more authentic experience. The cost of a camel ride is also not included in your Cairo trip since this is something which does not appeal to everyone. If you want to go for a camel ride during your Cairo trip, simply tell your private tour guide, and he or she will help to ensure that you get the best possible price.
Lunch Break
Following your tour at the Giza Pyramids archaeological site, you will then be taken to a good quality local restaurant for some lunch. This lunch meal is included in the price of your Cairo tour from Sokhna Port and it is a great opportunity for you to sample some delicious authentic Egyptian cuisine.
Museum of Egyptian Antiquities Tour
Also known as the Egyptian Museum and/or the Cairo Museum, this world famous museum is one of Cairoโs most popular attractions, and home to tens of thousands of exquisite artifacts that showcase Egyptโs rich history, spanning a period of around 5,000 years.
Numerous artifacts that were originally on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, including an exhibit dedicated to King Tutankhamun, have recently been moved to the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza, just a short distance from the Pyramids of Giza. Nonetheless, with roughly 200,000 priceless antiquities on display, there is still plenty to see at the Museum in Cairo. Since our Cairo tour from Sokhna Port is customizable, if you would rather visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum instead of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, this can easily be arranged.
The royal mummies which were once on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo have now also now been moved to the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza, which like the Cairo Museum, showcases roughly 5,000 years of Egyptian history.
Khan el Khalili Market Tour
The last stop on your private Cairo trip will be at the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, one of the cityโs most charming historical sites. This huge marketplace has been around since the 14th century. It is one of the oldest and biggest markets in the entire Middle East and is a definite must-see for anyone who visits this bustling Egyptian city.
Even if you donโt want to buy anything, Khan el Khalili market is a great place to just enjoy some coffee and some tasty street food at one of the cafes while watching the locals going about their daily lives. Rest assured, this is one of Egyptโs best historic bazaars.
Cairo Day Tours from Sokhna Port End
After spending some time at the Khan el Khalili Bazaar, your guide and driver will then take you back to Sokhna Port and drop you off at your cruise entry/exit gate. Your Cairo tour from Sokhna Port has now come to an end.
